NasGap Trading Strategy Review – John Piper

    Key Info

    Publisher:  Agora
Cost:  £197 with a 30 Day Money back guarantee
    Review Date:  December 2013

What It Says On The Website

John Piper is more than likely well known to many of you and requires no introduction. This is his latest publication of which there have been many, we have reviewed three of them over the years, links below:

    Profit Before Work
    Tunnel Trader
    Trade Maker

The headline for his latest offering, the Nasgap trading strategy is “Take advantage of a ‘market back-log’ that could pocket you a tax-free £55, £80 or £95 on your lunch break”. You need no trading experience, just check a simple website at 2:30pm (UK time) and if there is a signal, place your trade.

The strategy has been designed by John and a “’gap trading’ expert” and during the last 15 months “if you’d done the same as us, you could’ve easily bagged £3,845 already”. Suggestions on what you could do with your profits are, buy your friends a drink, take your partner out for cocktails and a live show or, let them build into a nest egg.

The above £3,845 is based on £10 trading which is worth clarifying. We believe it’s actually £260 trading based on fact the Stop is stated as being 26 points. If we assume 3% risk per trade we can then make the following observations:

    • A starting bank of £8,667 would be required
    • The average return per month in £’s would be £256
    • The average return per month in % would be 3%

John’s publisher of choice is Agora and that means the product comes with a Money Back Guarantee, backed by them, for 30 days. And one needs to be quick as there’s only 250 copies being printed.

(Ed! Seems like a lot of trouble to go to for £12,500 (250 x £100), assuming the publisher will be taking at 50%!)

    The Material

An 88 page manual where we find out that Mark Austin is the “gap trading expert” mentioned on the website.
Quite some time is spent on basics including what an index is, what a chart is, what a gap is, how to open an account, etc. that only complete beginners will benefit from.

The strategy itself, which boast a 70%+ strike rate, is then well explained (very thoroughly in fact). Entry is simply based on identifying a gap (on the NASDAQ) at 2:30pm UK time and placing trades 5 minutes later if the rule base is met. A 26 point stop is specified with the target being variable dependent on the size of the gap.

    The System

The strategy is outlined above and after placing your trades (at 2:35pm) it’s pretty much Set & Forget.

There is some occasional trade management at 5pm if a trade is still open (the Stop or Target has not been hit). It’s minor management but nonetheless worth being aware of in case you think you can just Set & Forget at 2;35pm once a day.

Total effort each day is about 5 minutes around 2:30pm and a minute or so at 5pm.

    Can It Work

We ran this strategy in December (to Friday 17th December) as defined above and we came out with a profit.

During this 3 week period we took 7 trades, we had 5 winning trades and 2 losing trades for a net return of +5.66%, based on risking 5% per trade.

On the basis this is taking up little time and has returned a small profit so far we will continue coverage of this system for at least 1 more month and report back with our results.

    Support

We had no reason to contact support so we cannot comment.

    Summary

    PRO’s
    • Less than 10 minutes a day.
    • Very simple to use.

    CON’s
    • Risk reward ratio on some trades is often high (Risk 26 points to make 3 for example) so there is a great reliance on that 70%+ strike rate.

Nasgap Trading Strategy – February 2014 Update

During February we took 7 trades, we had 3 winning trades and 4 losing trades which resulted in a -12.49% draw down.

That’s a total return of 0.61% (average 0.2% a month) for December, January and February based on 5% risk per trade.

Suffice to say we will now cease coverage of this system.
